DONGEN FAMILY
For family van Dongen, we customized a complete black kitchen with an oval island. The family wanted a kitchen where they could cook extensively, that looks spacious and has plenty of storage options.
We were also allowed to make a TV cabinet and a cabinet for their coffee and whiskey accessories.
The family wanted a unique kitchen island. ''Anything but one of those typical rectangles in the middle,'' the couple said during our introductory meeting. So they chose an oval kitchen island that contrasts with the dark back wall.
So the wooden slats and white natural stone kitchen top perfectly fit the van Dongen family's needs and requirements. And the matching black faucet and sink complete the island.
The family wanted anything but a standard kitchen you can buy at any kitchen store. So in addition to the kitchen island, the family created their own back wall with copper-brown tiles. To make the color of the tiles stand out, an LED strip was also installed. Then the copper color really stood out. They also chose to use the same natural stone kitchen countertop in this space.
''No hood! We find that so ugly!" the couple said in chorus. That's why an electric cooktop with integrated extractor fan was installed. Built-in kitchen appliances such as a microwave and an oven were also installed in the back wall. And also handle-less kitchen cabinets for plenty of storage space.
In addition to the custom kitchen, we also made a TV cabinet for the family. She wanted the television to be incorporated into the cabinet making it less noticeable. She also always wanted a water vapor fireplace because it is a real mood creator. And because they like to enjoy a glass of wine, they also wanted a cabinet - which connects to the TV cabinet - for their favorite wine, glasses and accessories.
We were also allowed to make a coffee cabinet for the family in the same style as the TV cabinet. In the cabinet we made a small black faucet and sink so they can easily refill their coffee maker.
Together, the kitchen island, TV cabinet and coffee cabinet form a whole that the couple may enjoy for years to come.
